FACE UP TO CANCER is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We collect personal data from you, which you volunteer, when you provide such personal data to us, or via our website and donation platform with which you interact, for example, when you upload your details or donate.
You may also give us your details when you deal with our campaign- e.g. we may need your name, phone numbers, emails etc; all data that you provide to us.
We only use that data to continue our legitimate business with this campaign. We do not process that data outside of our legitimate business nor do we communicate that data to any third party without your consent.
Uses made of your personal data.
We will use your data to carry out our obligations to you, including to process payments, issue receipts, fulfil online orders, confirm transactions, news updates on progress and to send you access to final copies of the Face Up To Cancer photo mosaics in which you appear.
For example, when donating images or money online, we will use your information to complete your order and to follow up, where relevant, necessary, or requested, by email on any transactions and issue payment receipts.
This processing is based on fulfilling our obligations to donors and those who have chosen to upload their images for inclusion in photo mosaics, and the legitimate interests of Face Up Ltd in managing the business of the Face Up To Cancer campaign.
Marketing and newsletters
You will receive relevant marketing and newsletter communications from us if you have given us your electronic details (Eg. email) as part of a donation, participation in a campaign and, you have not opted out of receiving that marketing.
We may use your data to send you newsletters, but only as they relate to the Face Up To Cancer campaign, our affiliated charity partners, it’s impact and effect, how money donated is being spent and research news.
If you do not want us to use your data in this way, please notify us to that effect, either by opting out on sign-up, unsubscribing from emails, or emailing unsubscribe@faceuptocancer.ie. Any and all electronic communication from us that is not essential to services you have participated in can be opted out of an any time.
Cookie Notice

Images uploaded to Face Up To Cancer.
We will only use these images to create the photo mosaics of our featured portraits. Once this is done, your individual images will be erased from our databases within 30 days of the end of the campaign. We will not use individual images for any other purpose.
The photo mosaics will be reproduced electronically and in print format for display online and in physical environments and your uploaded image may be used in one or more of these. By uploading your image to Face Up To Cancer, you have donated this image to form part of one or more photo mosaics and once part of a mosaic, the image rights for that specific purpose and no other, reside with Face Up To Cancer.
We keep your data for varying periods according to our Data Retention Schedule and in line with relevant legislation and recommendations.

Our website may, from time to time, contain links to and from other websites. If you follow a link to any of those websites, please note that those websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for those policies. Please check those policies before you submit any data to those websites.
Protection of the privacy of personal information
In order to protect the privacy of personal information, Face Up To Cancer takes all due care to protect personal information it holds from any loss, unauthorised access, modification, use, disclosure and disposal,
- has in place a Data Protection Breach Policy which will be used to investigate fully any potential data protection breaches,
- has in place appropriate staff training to ensure that all staff involved in processes which handle personal information are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding and handling of personal information,
- only uses personal data for the purposes for which it was collected,
- is subject to the Freedom of Information Act 2014.
Face Up To Cancer obligations
Under the GDPR and Data Protection Acts 1988-2018, Face Up To Cancer, as a Data Controller, has a legal responsibility to:
- obtain and process personal data lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner.
- keep it only for one or more specified and explicit lawful purpose(s)
- process it only in ways compatible with the purpose of which it was given initially.
- keep data accurate, relevant, and not excessive.
